Certified Natural Health Practitioner ProgramTM (CNHP)

600 hours of professional training at the School of Complementary Therapies in natural health care, complementary and alternate medicine leads to the designation Certified Natural Health Practitioner (C.N.H.P.) with the Canadian Examining Board of Health Care Practitioners. This program supplies the successful graduate with the right tools to begin or continue in a professional career in the growing field of complementary and alternate medicine (C.A.M.).

Each part of the program may be taken in separate modules to ease the learning process and the transition into the C.A.M. profession. Our team of highly accomplished professionals working in the field are supportive and passionate about living a healthy lifestyle and bring far more than an intellectual approach to the materials.

You will learn about the body, mind, emotions and spiritual components in each level of the program. This dynamic course includes the Anatomy & Physiology, Traditional Holistic Aromatherapy, Holistic Foot Reflexology or Hand Reflexology, Business Mastery, Ethics of Touch and Nutrition information that will send you out into the world as a competent Certified Natural Health Practitioner (C.N.H.P.) ready to expand an existing practice or begin a new one.
CNHP may be taken in the classroom or by correspondence or by a combination of in-class and correspondence. The only parts of the program where it is mandatory to attend the classroom are:

1) Holistic Foot Reflexology
This is a hands-on experience and we either require you to take it with us or with an equivalent School/Association so that you have the appropriate feedback from the classroom. Previous qualifications may be applied. The student has the option to take Hand Reflexology instead of Foot Reflexology. Hand Reflexology is available in the classroom or by correspondence.

2) Holistic Aromatherapy Massage
This is a hands-on experience. The rest of the program may be taken by correspondence. You will need two weekends in the classroom with SCT or proof of a minimum of equivalent massage training with another School/Association or private instructor (subject to SCT approval). Previous qualifications may be applied.

The written Aromatherapy Examination and the CHNP final examination are either taken in the classroom or you may take them at a location you prefer with an approved proctor. Anyone may apply to the School to be a proctor.

Reflexology and Aromatherapy Massage practical examinations (hands-on) are taken with an approved instructor or a video tape of your examination may be submitted to SCT. All other examinations are at-home and submitted to SCT for marking.

You may take modules one at a time or take several at the same time. You set the pace. However we recommend completion within a two year time frame. You may of course complete in less than two years if you choose. After two years extensions may be applied for. (see Policies and Procedures for more information on extensions). SCT and instructors reserve the right to moderate the amount of theory taken by the student should they not be completing practical (hands-on) assignments.
When you sign-up for the entire program there is a 10% reduction in costs or you may take and pay for each course individually. You may sign-up on line or you may mail in yourcompleted registration with your cheques or money orders to SCT.

The program is approved for membership and designation by the Canadian Examining Board of Health Care Practitioners (Canada), the Academy of Naturopaths and Naturotherapists (Quebec, Canada), the Reflexology Registration Council of Ontario (recognized throughout Canada, U.S. and some parts of Europe), the National Association of Holistic Aromatherapy (United States), and we are currently in the process of obtaining accreditation with a massage registration group in Alberta and a Naturopathic Association in the U.S. You are also qualified to write examinations with other Registration organizations throughout the world.
