Reflexology and the Law of Attraction
You are reading this article right now because of the Law of Attraction, a universal law that promises, "that which is like unto itself is drawn." You are resonating or vibrating in a way that is in sync with the information I'm sharing here with you.
In my Reflexology and Life Coaching practice I explain to my clients that when we
experience positive feelings and allow without any resistance what we desire, we discover our true Power. Whether it's a better job, a new relationship, wellness, financial freedom or new adventures, being happy and mindful–fully present 'right now'–opens the door to whatever we desire.
Stress, anger, resentment, jealousy, feelings of scarcity and other negative feelings create vibrations that only attract more negative experiences. The Law of Attraction states that only when you are relaxed and in a good feeling place are you in a vibrational state to attract what you desire. You get what you expect, what you're feeling and what you focus on.
Reflexology is a powerful tool to help you deeply relax, release negative thoughts and feelings, and shift your vibration to allow in what you desire. A Reflexology session is a nurturing and loving experience, designed especially to help you 'remember' who you are.
And when you do start to remember, you begin to re-discover youthful energy, focus, and a sense of wonder that empowers you to attract your goals.
Imagine lying under a snuggly blanket on a cushy massage table in a dimly lit, cozy room with mellow music playing. As your Reflexologist works on your feet, hands, ears and face, you deeply relax, let go and enter a trance-like state (similar to being in a hypnotic trance) where you are open to suggestions you give yourself–things you most desire in your life right now. Soothing the thousands of nerves in your feet alone (nearly 15,000 of them) enervate each organ, gland and part of your body. Reflexology helps open these nerve pathways, creating calming, balancing, energizing and cleansing effects. The result?
Improved physical, mental, emotional and spiritual balance, and having much more of what you desire in your life.

Healthy Feet ~ Healthy People
Not wearing shoes or sandels is known as going barefoot or barefooted and is considered to be a natural human state. However for functional, fashion and social reasons we more often than not wear some form of footwear. Have you ever considered that wearing shoes is an exclusively human trait?
For many the concept of wearing of footwear is a sign of civilization and wealthy living, while being barefoot is considered a sign of poverty.Even when poverty is not relevant some people choose to be barefootin some situations. Here's a few interesting facts about going barefoot:
In 2006 a study found that shoes may increase stresses on the knee and ankle, and suggested that adults with osteoarthritis may benefit from walking barefoot (1)
In 2007 a study entitled, 'Shod Versus Unshod: The Emergence of Forefoot Pathology in Modern Humans?', was published in the podiatry journal 'The Foot'. 180 modern humans were examined the their feet compared with skeletons that were 2,000-years old. They conclusion was that prior to the invention of shoes humans overall had healthier feet.(2)
A 1991 study found that children who wore shoes were three times more likely to have flat feet than those who did not, and suggested that wearing shoes in early childhood can be detrimental to the longitudinal arch of the foot.(3)
People who habitually go barefoot generally have stronger feet. They are more likely to have better flexibility and mobility, fewer deformities like flat feet or toes that curve inwards, and less complaints about their foot health and wellness.(4)(5)
Walking barefoot encourages a more natural gait, eliminating the hard heel strike and instead, allowing for a rocking motion of the foot from heel to toe.(2)
Although not always practical, taking some barefoot time is an important adjunct to using Foot Reflexology. Balancing life is important to our overall health and well-being, so a little barefoot time each day will lead to improved health and wellbeing. Paying attention to your foot health will lead to improved overall health.

Reflexology--More than Fabulous Feet!
Although we call this new section 'Fabulous Feet' you may be noticing already that Reflexology can involve more than 'feet'. At SCT we also teach Hand and Facial Reflexology. Other organizations include head, ear and full-body. So you might be wondering what makes reflexology different to massage.
Reflexology is based on the premise that there are energy lines that run throughout the body. These energy lines are invisible to the naked eye, however some clairvoyants can see them and have documented and painted them. The Chinese healing traditions are based on energy lines and this has been recognized for thousands of years. In addition, there was a great deal of mapping of the energy lines (and the reflex points) in the middle to end of the last century. This more scientific approach was mainly in the Western world.
The reflex points were discovered and mapped out by several different groups and this information is what leads to the distinctive Reflexology Foot Charts. Each chart will have some differences, based on the training, intuition and research of the chart's developer. For example, the School of Complementary Therapies uses the Fairbrass Foot Chart. This chart was developed by SCT Founder Jacqueline Fairbrass in 1995 and uses more Traditional Chinese research influence than many other charts. In 2004 the Fairbrass Hand Reflexology Chart was introduced after ten years of study and research. Currently, the new Facial Reflexology Chart will be released later this year.
Reflexology uses techniques to stimulate, relax and/or subdue the natural flow of energy. When energy is flowing in balance we feel happy and healthy. When the energy flow is blocked or out of balance we can feel tired, stressed-out and it even leads to disease.
Massage tends to be based on the Western anatomy and physiology approach to the body. Reflexology is based on energy lines, called zones and medians. Each school or association will have it's own specialized routine. The Fairbrass Reflexology routine was developed in 1995 and continues to be fine-tuned. It consists of a series of pressure techniques, some massage techniques, and although has some consistencies with other methodologies, is completely unique! Students learn to develop their sensitivity in both hands and intuition to be able to give a fabulous Reflexology treatment, whether on the Feet, Hands or Face.
Reflexology brings the body into balance, improves circulation and allows the body, mind, spirit and emotions to relax. Regular Reflexology keeps you feeling fabulous!
Grounding June Newsletter 2011
Often we find that we have become disconnected with ourselves as a whole. We stay focused on the "shoulds" in life and rarely stay in the moment. Reflexology reawakens our connection to the here and now within our bodies. During a Reflexology session our focus moves onto the physical sensations, both from the treatment itself as well as the body's response to Reflexology.
As we connect with ourselves in the present moment we can open our thoughts to the connection our feet share with the earth that nutures us.
"The foot feels the foot when it feels the ground."

Insurance, Insurance, Insurance!!!
by Don Reid, RRPr, Collingwood, ON (edited)
Okay, I have some good news about insurance.
The RRCO (Reflexology Registration Council of Ontario) has been officially recognized by Green Shield Canada as an accepted organization for Extended Health Insurance Plan (EHIP) reimbursement. This means that current RRPr may sign up on-line to become a registered Health Service Provider. If you have a client that has a Green Shield, EHIP that includes Reflexology, you will qualify to have your treatments reimbursed.
You must sign up on-line to register with Green Shield. Once you have completed the application, you will receive a Service Provider number. You will then need to activate your account to complete the process.
You can assign payment directly to yourself or your bank account, or you can have the plan member pay you directly the applicable amount, and assign payment directly to the plan member. Both you and the plan member immediately receive confirmation of applicable coverage significantly reducing claims processing and mailing times.
Here is the process to register:
1.Visit greenshield.ca and select the Health Service Providers icon from the homepage.
2. In the Sign In drop-down menu select Health Service Providers, choose Forms , then choose Health Professional.
3. Complete the online form. On the Registration page, select Provider Type and choose Reflexologist. Enter your business or professional name. Use the name of the clinic as your business or professional name if payments are made directly to the clinic. If you have not received a statement, use your first initial and last name as your business or professional name. (For example L SMITH, DR L SMITH, SMITH OPTICAL).
4. Follow Next Steps until Finish and you will receive your password in the mail within 5 business days.
5. Once you receive your password, you must activate your account.
6. Repeat steps 1-2 but select Activation instead of Registration.
7. Follow the next steps to create a password and complete activation.
Background and some cold hard facts about EHIP (Extended Health Care Insurance Plans)
Insurance is the hot topic of the day. The announcement that Green Shield Canada recognizes the RRCO is very exciting. The RRCO is working with other insurance companies as well. Each company handles claims differently. The RRCO has been working hard to establish working relationships with these companies. These are pioneering days!
When I got involved with Reflexology in 1996 it was a rare occurrence to find a client with an EHIP that included Reflexology. As rare as it was, I still managed to have a few clients that did. It was a wonderful feeling to give my client a receipt, have them submit it to their insurance company and then see them receive payment.
Over the past several years while I was AD of RRCO, Head Office has seen a steady increase in enquiries from insurance companies that offer EHIP. These enquiries range from wanting more information about RRCO, to verification of a registrants' status. Today the RRCO verifies with insurance companies on a regular basis whether a RRPr is a registrant in good standing.
Be Aware:
The fundamental root of concern is: many EHIP will only reimburse claims for Reflexology if provided by a regulated health professional. Recently our Chair received an enquiry from a registrant when the insurance company would only reimburse a Reflexlology treatment if it was provided by an RMT. To be fair and clear to all, EHIP that include Reflexology may or may not reimburse services provided by a RMT, other regulated health professional or an RRPr.
A very common enquiry received at head office is "can you give me a list of insurance companies that reimburse reflexology treatments"? For the record, the RRCO does not release specific information regarding EHIP, their carriers, employers or employees. Each plan is customized for the employer by the insurance company. The employer then in turn provides the plan to the employee. The insurance company writes the policy to accommodate the wishes of the employer. The employer customizes the plan to suit the needs of the employee.
The key word to pay attention to is 'customized'. Some plans include Reflexology, some do not. Some plans will only reimburse service provided by a RMT or other regulated health professional, some will not. Some plans will reimburse service provided by a RRPr, some will not. There is no such thing as a standard EHIP. The bottom line for an RRPr is you may have a client that has coverage through a EHIP that will include Reflexology and may reimburse you for it. There is also also the chance they will not reimburse you.
As I said earlier, these are pioneering days. In 1996 there were very few EHIP that included Reflexology. Today there are many more. The announcement that RRCO is recognized by Green Shield is a pioneering step forward. We should all be proud and look to the future for more successes like this one!
